Child Friendly Syringe:

My first step for creating the child friendly syringe is i got a Shrek head from the internet and i tinkered it because it is too complex for me to do on my own. i then got a cylinder and re-sized it, made it white and put it under the Shrek head. i then did the same but smaller and put it under once more. i got a dome shape, i made it small so that it fits on the cylinder and made it green for the tip. i got a cylinder, made it grey and put it under the green dome and i made a hole in the needle to make it so that fluids can go in since needles have an angled tip, i got a triangular prism, made it a hole and put it at the correct angle and the grouped them. i got a cylinder, made it white then hot 4 cubes and put them at each corner to make the shape at the top then i got a disc, made it white and made it fit on top. The challenges i faced during this is that the pieces kept going in the wrong places and i couldn't control them as this was the first time i used tinkercad.

Dog Food Funnel:

When making the dog food funnel i had to get a dog bowl from the internet as i was not sure how to make a proper one in tinkercad. i Then got cylinders and resized them and put it at the edge of the bowl. i copied and pasted it two more times and placed them evenly spaced at the edges of the bowl. i then got some connectors or curved cylinders and made it fit onto the cylinder and tilted it at the correct angle and i copied and pasted it. i then cot a cone and i stretched it to the correct shape. i got a cylinder and put it at the base. i got another cone and made it a hole and put it in the existing cone and grouped it so it made an indent for the funnel. i got a cylinder and proceeded to do the same but with the cylinder. i then chose colour and grouped all of it together. The hardest part of this was probably getting the curves at the correct angle because they kept getting off the cylinder and looking weird.

Fold able Ruler:

When making the fold able ruler i had to get a cube and stretch and flatten it out, i then made it white and got a semicircle and stretched it over the middle and made it white. i got numbers and placed them on like a ruler. it wasn't big enough to make it 30 cm so for the purposes of the project i made it 12 cm. i then got the same measurements for the first one and split it in two. i made on at a 90 degree angle and put all the numbers. i then got the semi circle and put it in the same position but the end was sticking out so i got a cube, made it a hole and grouped it to make it look like it folded. The most challenging part was making the second folded one because i had to place all the numbers on an angle.

Design Justification:

I chose the first picture, the shrek one, because in my opinion little boys will be more relaxed looking at a detaile face of their favourite cartoon carachter rather than looking at a fake looking set of eyes and mouth. Also the color green lets out tranquility so the boys will be more calm looking at shrek than a set of eyes and a mouth.

Design Justification:

I chose the thinner one because if it is thick then it defy's the point of it being portable and also it will use less materials thus making it cheaper. Also it is easier to use a thin ruler rather than a thick one.

Design Justification:

I Chose picture number two because number one is just too complicated and unrealistic to build but number two is simple and useful. It is a funnel that stands up and serves so that your dog doesn't push the dog food over when you are pouring it.

Term 1

Introduction

My name is Riccardo Borghesi; I am a student at Emirates International School Meadows. I am in Year 8C; I have created this Blogger as part of my MYP Design folder for this year. I have done MYP Design before, last year in Year 7C, and that was my first year in the Secondary School, doing the MYP Curriculum. In MYP Design I have to make sure that I am a good designer, last year, in Term 1, we did the characteristics of advertisements; in Term 2 I worked with Evrard to make a tech fair project, we came in third place! In Term 3 we worked with a Storyboard software and Scratch, it was an interesting topic, I made a story about someone getting bullied. My hobbies are, Gaming, Watching Videos, swimming and I like to mess around on the computer, self-teaching myself some commands and how to find extra stuff out about my computer like, its storage.

The subject MYP Design makes us analyze and see the flaws that are in current designs of different products. I find it kind of hard to think of new ideas. I read that the characteristics of a good designer have to be very attentive to see flaws in designs and re make them but better.

 For this i had to move the pillars on line with the stairs.

 For this i had to look behind the stage witht the view cube

 with this i had to get a hexagon and place it in the circle then make it a hole and lock it.

for this i had to put the cylindars in order and make them taller and shorter using the provided slider.

The Problem:

The UAE Nurses Association claims that one of the most difficult parts of their job is
dealing with small children who have a fear of needles.Although the association has some
tips and tricks like putting numbing cream to partially freeze the surface of the skin
before injecting medicine, sometimes the anxiety levels of small children are so high that
it is difficult to get them to hold still.If only there was an easier way to administer
medicine within the syringe.

Design Brief:

My design is that i will make a water siringe that will have shrek on it because alot of little kids like shrek and they would be less intimidated and they would look at him for a distraction from the needle.

Problem:

When playing a 1v1 splitscreen it is very easy to screen watch (looking at the other persons screen to cheat) and it is very annoying when it happenes.

Design Brief:

I will make a box that snuggly goes around your eyes and streches out all the way to your half of the tv so you can only see you screen, for the other player, he can no longer see your screen because of the box

Problem:

When i try to carry a 30CM ruler it doesnt fit in my pencil case. and i always need a 30cm in stead of a 15cm ruler.

Design Brief:

Im going to make a ruler that is 15cm but you can open it and it turnes into a 30cm ruler so that you can carry it where ever you go!
